Preparing for your Zoom Meeting
Make sure you have the necessary equipment:
- A current Internet Browser on your computer (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, etc.)
- An reliable broadband internet connection
- Recommended: Wired or wireless headset/earbuds with microphone
- Webcam – built-in (most laptops have this) or USB plug-in
Helpful hints
- Download and install the Zoom client software on your computer - visit https://zoom.us/download
- Close out of any non-essential apps on your computer - especially those that may use your camera, speakers, or microphone (Pandora, Facebook, WhatsApp, etc.)
- Plan to be in a quiet, well-lit environment when joining the meeting
- Consider muting yourself when you are not speaking - this reduces the potential for background noise in the meeting
- If your internet connection becomes unstable, disable your webcam (stop video) to reduce bandwidth requirements
- If you are using the chat feature and want to send a private message to another participant, double click on their name in the participants list and make sure you are not sending the message to 'everyone.'
